Marco Espírito Santo

Marco is a writer and director working across various filmmaking disciplines. Born in London, he currently resides in his hometown of Lisbon. He won the Sarah Willis Poetry Prize at the age of 19 in New York, attended the London Film School, and was selected for Berlinale Talents. His short films have been screened and awarded at prestigious festivals such as Clermont-Ferrand, Tampere, the London Short Film Festival, and the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). His work has also been recognized by platforms like MTV, NOWNESS, Stab Magazine, and Vimeo Staff Picks. In addition to his independent projects, he has created original content for brands including Rizla, Fred Perry, Lisbon Fashion Week, and Betclic.
--- THRONEBOSIS
A punk micro-short in verse.
It is May 6th, 2023, the day of the Coronation of King Charles III in London, and a young man calls Emergency Medical Services claiming the whole thing is making him feel unwell. “Thronebosis” uses manipulated news footage of the day's events mixed with animation to illustrate the man's concerns in a punk-infused poetic form.

"Heaven Is On My Side" is a short film that combines gratitude and big-wave surfing, featuring João “Massas” de Macedo. Both a documentary and a reflection on environmental awareness, the film explores Macedo's journey and experience with the world’s largest wave in Nazaré, Portugal.
